Diagnosing depression can be tricky. Why? Because sometimes there's a very fine line between mental health issues and other problems that are just making you feel not quite like yourself. Here are some other things that might be brining you down...

Lack of Sleep

When you’re tired, your body loses some of its ability to regulate emotions. Try to get eight hours of sleep a night.

Sickness

You’re exhausted and you have no desire to eat? You may be coming down with something. See your doctor.

Hormones

Your mood can undergo normal fluctuations because of what’s going on in your body. Have a family history of PMS? You may be especially sensitive to the changes. Ask an ob-gyn for advice.

Prescription Medication

Hormone-based birth control could be a culprit. ADHD drugs are also known to impact moods. You have to let your doc know what’s up.

Alcohol or Drug Use

These affect your brain’s neurotransmitters and can make you feel really low. Need help quitting? Talk to your family or pediatrician.
