While Stranger Things is nearing its end with its fifth and final season, it won't be the last we see of Hawkins and the Upside Down. Netflix's beloved sci-fi series is getting the animated spin-off treatment, according to an April 2023 report by Variety. The new show will be executive produced by the original creators, the Duffer Brothers, via their production company, Upside Down Pictures.

"We've always dreamed of an animated Stranger Things in the vein of the Saturday morning cartoons that we grew up loving, and to see this dream realized has been absolutely thrilling," the Duffer Brothers said in a statement, per Variety. "We couldn't be more blown away by what Eric Robles and his team have come up with — the scripts and artwork are incredible, and we can't wait to share more with you! The adventure continues…"

It also seems like the writers behind Netflix's hit series will return as they tweeted about the upcoming spin-off.

"Very excited about this!" the official Stranger Writers Twitter account wrote on April 10.
