What will season three of The Summer I Turned Pretty be about?
Since The Summer I Turned Pretty is based on the book trilogy by Jenny Han, we have a bit of insight into what could possibly go down next season. Season 1 introduced 16-year-old Belly, who spends her summers in Cousins Beach with her mom, her older brother Steven, her mom's childhood bestie, Susannah, and her two sons, Conrad and Jeremiah. Season one ended in a shocking cliffhanger because Conrad and Belly kissed, although she was dating his brother Jere.
Season two picked right up where things left off. Belly experienced the fallout from her kiss with Conrad, and now her relationship with both brothers is practically nonexistent. Their mom, Susannah, tragically died from cancer. The home that Conrad, Jere, and Belly knew and loved was put on sale by Susannah's sister after her death. The impending sale served as the glue that brought the trio back together.
If season 3 follows the third book's trilogy, here's a rundown of what could possibly happen.
Belly has only ever been in love with two boys, both with the last name Fisher. And after being with Jeremiah for the last two years, she’s almost positive he is her soul mate. Almost. While Conrad has not gotten over the mistake of letting Belly go, Jeremiah has always known that Belly is the girl for him. So when Belly and Jeremiah decide to make things forever, Conrad realizes that it’s now or never—tell Belly he loves her, or lose her for good.
Belly will have to confront her feelings for Jeremiah and Conrad and face the inevitable: She will have to break one of their hearts.
Is there a release date for The Summer I Turned Pretty season 3?
Since season two aired exactly one year after season one premiered, we can only hope that season three will be released sometime during the summer of 2024. However, recent strikes within the entertainment industry could impact when the show begins production, so it could very well be pushed back further.
