One of the highlights of the 2018 MTV Movie and TV Awards red carpet was the Stranger Things cast. The stars of the hit Netflix series posed together for adorable group shots and looked like they were having the best time hanging out together. But one important cast member was noticeably missing — Millie Bobby Brown. The actress who plays Eleven was nowhere to be seen.

While the actual award show won’t air until Monday night, it looks like Millie didn’t just skip the red carpet. Sadly, she didn’t make it to the award show at all. But she had a good reason.

The Stranger Things star posted a video to her Insta to let fans know she wouldn’t be attending the show after splitting her knee cap. Yikes!

“I’ve never actually broken a bone except for now. I have split my kneecap. From the doctor’s orders, he told me to rest up. So I won’t be attending the MTV Awards this weekend,” she explained in the video.

The actress called the injury “a milestone in her life" while showing off crutches and a knee brace. While she didn’t explain how she hurt herself, Millie did wish her co-stars good luck.

“I hope Gaten, Caleb, Finn, Sadie and Noah have the best time. And I love them so dearly, so I wish you guys the best and I’m sending my luck with you. And I’ll be there in spirit,” she said.

Stranger Things is nominated for six awards, and Millie herself scored two nods — for Best Performance in a Show and Best Kiss (with co-star Finn Wolfhard).

So you know Millie's knee had to be pretty bad for her to skip the show. But according to her Stranger Things co-stars, it's really gnarly.

"She's in high spirits," Finn Wolfhard told ET on the red carpet at the award show Saturday. But apparently, her knee injury is no joke. He told ET that Millie nearly broke her kneecap in half, adding, "It's a gnarly picture."

Luckily, it looks like Millie's on the mend, and will be back on the red carpet in no time.

"She's gonna get better really soon," one of Millie's other Stranger Things co-stars, Sadie Sink, told ET. "Unfortunately, she hurt her knee. I think she slipped, it wasn't on set but she fractured her knee. but she's getting better."

The MTV Movie Awards will air Monday night.
